Jaigarh Fort

This impressive Fort of Victory was built by Sawai Jai Singh, the ruler of Jaipur in 1726. Jaigarh Fort was the stronghold where the treasury of the rulers of Jaipur was kept in safe custody. The fort has extensive defensive structures and ramparts. The ramparts offer an excellent view of Jaipur town. Jaigarh Fort also has a fascinating water supply system to ensure the fort could withstand a long siege. Jaivan - the biggest wheeled cannon - can be seen on one of the ramparts of the fort.

City Palace

The residence of the Jaipur royal family, the City Palace is a fairytale setting. Also called the Moon Palace or the Chandra Mahal, the courtyard and the ground floor have been converted into the Sawai Man Singh II Museum. One of the fascinating sights at the museum are two "gangajalis" or giant silver urns used to store water from the River Ganges. These are the largest silver objects in the world.
