Location of Jodhpur
Jodhpur is a 6 hr 30 min drive north west of Udaipur and 8hrs west of Jaipur. It is at
the fringe of the Great Indian Desert of Thar with Bikaner on its north, Barmar, Jalor and
Pali on its south, Jaisalmer on its west, and Nagaur on the east.
How to reach Jodhpur
The airport, 5km from the center of the city, is served by domestic flights from
different cities of India. The main railway station is in the south of the city, 2km west
of the state bus stand. State buses from all over the state and further afield pull into
the bus stand.
By Air
Regular flights connect Jodhpur directly to Delhi, Mumbai, Udaipur and Jaipur. Almost all
major domestic airlines have their offices here.
By Rail
Jodhpur is directly connected to most of the destinations in India by a good network of
trains. The booking office is on Station Road, between the railway station and Sojati
Gate. However, if you wish to place yourself in the lap of luxury, Palace on Wheels is
waiting for you at the Delhi Cant Station every Saturday.
By Road
Frequent Rajasthan State Transport buses connect Jodhpur to other places of Rajasthan and
the neighboring states.
Best Time to Visit Jodhpur
Though Jodhpur is a year round tourist destination, the ideal time to visit the place
is during the winter months (from October to March). |
